Dry Ice Uses

Extraction

Dry ice is commonly used in cannabis extraction processes, particularly in a method known as “dry ice hash” or “dry ice extraction.” It is also used for Flash Freezing and to cool tanks and machinery.

Pest Control

Using dry ice for pest control is a technique primarily employed to control and eliminate certain types of burrowing pests, such as rodents like rats and gophers. This method is often considered more environmentally friendly compared to some chemical alternatives.

Power Outages

Dry ice can be a useful tool during power outages to help preserve perishable food items and maintain a cold environment in your refrigerator or freezer.

Bar and Restaurants

Dry ice can be used in bars and restaurants for various purposes, adding a unique and dramatic touch to food and beverages.

Entertainment

Dry ice is commonly used in the entertainment industry for special effects, creating dramatic and visually striking scenes in various performances, films, and events. Its ability to produce thick, low-lying fog or smoke, as well as its other unique properties, make it a versatile tool for creating atmospheric effects.

Industrial

Dry ice, which is solid carbon dioxide (CO2) at a very low temperature, finds numerous applications in various industrial processes due to its unique properties. It is primarily used for its cooling and cleaning abilities.

Medical Field

Dry ice, which is solid carbon dioxide (CO2) at a very low temperature, has several important applications in the medical field due to its cooling and preservation properties.

Shipping and Packaging

Dry ice is a popular choice for shipping and packaging applications, particularly when temperature-sensitive or perishable items need to be transported in a frozen or chilled state. Its extreme cold temperature and ability to sublimate (turn directly from a solid to a gas) make it an effective cooling agent.

Cold Caps

Cold caps, also known as scalp cooling systems, are used by some cancer patients during chemotherapy to reduce hair loss. These caps work by cooling the scalp, which constricts blood vessels, potentially reducing the amount of chemotherapy drugs that reach the hair follicles and causing less hair loss. Dry ice can be used as a cooling agent for these cold caps.
